A Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board consultant has been told to “reflect on the case” after he misinterpreted an x-ray of a patient’s fractured hip. The consultant, who remains unnamed, has been told to reflect on his errors after he misread a series of poor quality x-ray pictures. He has also been ordered to provide the man’s wife with a detailed account of his reasoning behind changing his mind at the last minute. North Wales police officers have been awarded over £50,000 through personal injury claims over the last five years. The information was gathered as a result of a Freedom of Information request, which found that officers had claimed for incidents ranging from slipping on wet surfaces to exposure to excessive noise. A total of £53,615 was paid out to nine claimants since 2009, with a further four claims still ongoing. Recent figures have revealed that during the last five years, Wales has handed out over £800,000 worth of compensation to the families’ of children that have sustained injuries at school.
