Holidays are a great way for us to rest, recuperate, and get a break from everyday lives. However, it’s not uncommon for holidaymakers to be let down by their travel provider, and have their holiday ruined. If a company you have booked with doesn’t properly assess the safety of the accommodation, people can be prone to bugs and other illnesses, especially where food hygiene is concerned. There is also great risk of accidents abroad, where warnings may not be translated, of the health and safety laws not as comprehensive as our own. If you suffered in any way whilst being on holiday abroad, you may be entitled to claim compensation. But there is only a two-year window, as opposed to the three-year window in other personal injury claims.
Faulty shower causes holidaymaker to slip

A package holidaymaker has been awarded £22,000 after sustaining injuries following a slip in her hotel bathroom. The claimant broke her arm and tore ligaments after slipping on water leaking from a defective shower head whilst on holiday abroad. The injured party had previously reported the problem to the hotel’s management, but nothing was done to repair the fault. The holidaymaker decided to claim for compensation and appointed solicitors. The wife of a Marine left paralysed following a diving accident fears for the future after a losing battle for compensation. 27-year-old Spencer Vaughan, from Cwmbran in Torfaen, broke his neck diving into shallow waters in the Canary Islands in July 2009. Several families from the UK have been awarded compensation after their trips to a luxury Egyptian resort were ruined as a result of a gastric illness outbreak. A total of 73 holidaymakers were represented at Birmingham County Court and collectively received over £350,000 from their tour operator.
