Following two deaths and a number of injures, Swansea’s Kingsway has been transformed into a new one-way system. Before the change, cars and lorries were restricted to one-way traffic, yet buses and taxis used a separate two-way section. However, after the second person was killed crossing the road in the last two years, the local authority decided to implement changes to the road system – installing a one-way system for all traffic. Mr Colin Phillips, who sits as senior coroner for Neath Port Talbot, has issued a report to councillors highlighting the “serious design issue” which “must be addressed” concerning The Kingsway stretch of road in Swansea. Much needed safety changes are being made to a Swansea city centre road after an off duty police officer was hit by a bus. 41-year-old Sgt Louise Lucas had to be airlifted to hospital after she was hit by a bus on Tuesday. Her eight-year-old daughter was also involved in the accident but only suffered minor injuries. Following the accident, Swansea council has planned for immediate changes to be made to improve the safety of the road. Temporary barriers are due to be put in place along the central reservation.…

A museum boss has been awarded £500,000 in compensation for the trauma she experienced when paramedics were seventeen minutes late to reach her after dislocating her knee on the bus home. 50-year-old Ceri Leigh worked for the National History Museum organising exhibitions. In 2008 she dislocated her knee when getting on a bus at Wimbledon Station after getting trapped between two seats. Mrs Leigh suffered extreme pain and had to be held down by other passangers to prevent further injury. As a result, Mrs Leigh now suffers with post-traumatic stress…
